EMMA'S COTTAGE VINEYARD

2016 Rosé – RRP $34 Emma’s Cottage Vineyard is a boutique family owned vineyard in picturesque Lovedale with a reputation for producing quality, hand-crafted single estate wines. TASTING This gorgeous semi-dry Rose is not your typical Rose – in that it is bigger and bolder in character. The palate is fresh and lively with lingering strawberry and cherry flavours with notes of violet, toast and a hint of spice. FOOD MATCH Italian, trout or salmon, charcuterie. CELLARING Up to 4 years.

 

HUNGERFORD HILL

2017 Classic Tumbarumba Pinot Noir – RRP $45 The Pinot Noir variety is well suited to the high altitude, cool Tumbarumba region in the Snowy Mountains. The 2017 vintage was cooler allowing for vibrant and intense wines. TASTING This wine has fragrant aromas of red cherry, spice and forest herbs loading to a silky palate, with well integrated toasty French oak, resulting in a very long persistent finish. FOOD MATCH Crispy pork belly or roast duck. CELLARING Drink now or cellar for 5 years.

 

DALWOOD ESTATE

2018 Hunter Valley Semillon – RRP $27 From Australia’s oldest vineyard (190 years), this Dalwood Estate Semillon is produced from vines growing in the sandy loam soil on the south bank of the Hunter River. The 2018 vintage was warm, dry and low yielding. TASTING Made from fruit that was hand-picked in mid - January, this wine shows classic varietal flavours - fragrant with lemongrass aromas with a pure and elegant palate of citrus and tropical fruits. FOOD MATCH Barbeque prawns or salmon. CELLARING Drink now or over the next 15 years.

 

KRINKLEWOOD BIODYNAMIC WINES

2015 Blanc de Blanc – RRP $40 This sparkling is made in traditional French method, whereby the wine underwent secondary fermentation in the bottle and was aged on lees for 36 months before riddling and disgorge. This is the second release of this vintage. TASTING This Blanc de Blanc is fresh and lively with the palate displaying citrus, green apple and grapefruit characters with some yeasty overtones. It has a creamy mousse, a fine elegant bead and a crisp long finish. FOOD MATCH A perfect accompaniment to fresh seafood and canapés. CELLARING Up to 5 years.

 

IRONGATE ESTATE

2018 Hunter Valley Rosé – RRP $30 A carefully assembled blend of red and white fruit grown on the Estate has resulted in a pink rose-blush wine of complexity and style. TASTING With aromas of redcurrant, passionfruit, melon and raspberry and an easy -going palate of red berries and a refreshingly drying finish, this wine is sure to please. FOOD MATCH Delicious on its own or will complement cold meats, tapas, seafood and poultry dishes. CELLARING Drink now or cellar up to 4 years.

 

IVANHOE WINES

2016 Prince of Thieves Premium Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon – RRP $85 A rich well-made Cabernet that is only produced in exceptional years. The previous release was in 2010. The fruit is grown on 50 year old vines that are low yielding but produce incredible quality fruit. TASTING This wine has a full palate with a rich tannin finish. Time in quality oak has added to the wine’s strength. 16.5% Alcohol. FOOD MATCH This big red wine is fantastic with all lamb dishes, also with Grainge Signature Black Angus sirloin with asparagus and hollandaise or Veal cutlets with brown butter, capers and sage. CELLARING Will cellar well 8 to 12 years.

 

ASCELLA ORGANIC WINES

Ascella 2014 Rosé – RRP $19.90 Ascella Rosé comes from the largest certified organic vineyard in the Hunter Valley. Ascella is a pair of independent stars in the Zodiac reputed to give happiness and good fortune. The stars shine brightly over the vineyard as we pick our grapes in the cool of the night to assure freshness and great tasting wine. TASTING Turkish delight with layers of citrus blossom. A refreshing and zesty wine blended with Chambourcin and other grapes. FOOD MATCH Cheese, canapés and most fresh dishes including fish. CELLARING Enjoy now.

 

LUCY'S RUN

2018 Bella Bubbles – $20 (Christmas Special until Dec 31 (RRP $25) This sparkling Merlot Rosé, lovingly crafted by top dog winemaker, Nick Paterson, was recently awarded a bronze medal at the 2018 Hunter Valley Boutique Winemakers Show. TASTING Merlot flavours shine bright and clear, the twinkling bubbles bringing a hint of sweetness to the palate, with a crisp finale. FOOD MATCH Terrific by itself on any glittering occasion, or a great match with canapés, seafood, spicy dishes, Christmas pudding. CELLARING Don't stash it in the cellar – enjoy right now!

 

POKOLBIN ESTATE

2017 Belebula Nebbiolo Rosé – RRP $25 This is the first time Pokolbin Estate have made this style, previously using the Shiraz grape for their Rosé. This wine is a traditional dry European-style Rosé, making it ideal as an aperitif or with food. While this wine is still very young, it has been extremely popular. TASTING Bronzed salmon and peach in colour, this Nebbiolo Rosé possesses a vibrant bouquet of bush strawberries, peach and melon. FOOD MATCH Perfect with BBQ prawns, grilled salmon, roast chicken and fruit salad. CELLARING Drink now to 2022.
