Australia Day – This Australia Day, Maitland will celebrate all of the greatest Aussie Icons with The Mutual’s 2019 Australia Day in Maitland Park. Celebrations will begin at 7.30am with a free BBQ breakfast hosted by The Lions Club of East Maitland. Throughout the day there will be a range of fun and interactive activities running from 9am–3pm, free entry to Maitland Pool from 10am–3pm, loads of food stalls plus an Official Ceremony which will include a Citizenship Ceremony and Citizen of the Year Awards.
Free Art January (Maitland Regional Art Gallery) – With 30 free activities for kids, teens and oldies to discover, play and do this Summer, Free Art January 2019 looks to be the best yet! In addition to the daily events, throughout January, every Sunday families are invited to drop into the art gallery for free art activities inspired by the exhibitions on display. Activities are designed for kids of all ages, and as a family, you can all join in and get creative. Each activity takes around half an hour to complete. Slow Food Earth Market – The Slow Food Earth Market Maitland operates on the first and third Thursday in January. The market is a first in Australia and is the 60th Earth market in the Global network that is part of the work of Slow Food – a global grassroots organisation that works to protect food biodiversity and believes in the philosophy of good clean and fair food for all. Family Sunday Fundays – It’s the hottest time of year, so Cessnock City Council is offering the Sunday Family Fundays at all the local pools. Throughout January, local residents will gain free entry between 10am until 6pm, to Cessnock Pool, Branxton Pool and Kurri Kurri Aquatic and Fitness Centre (KKAFC). An inflatable fun park will be popping up at different locations throughout the period. Australia Day – Singleton's Australia Day Celebrations will take place on the Civic Centre Lawn in Singleton. Entertainment, kids activities, multi-cultural food, craft stalls, and displays from the military and emergency services are some of the highlights of this event for the whole family.
