Grug is a much loved Australian children’s book character, created by Novocastrian author & illustrator Ted Prior forty years ago. That’s right, Grug is celebrating his 40th birthday this year and we invite you and your young ones to visit Morpeth Gallery and meet Grug and his creator Ted Prior.
The first book in the series tells how Grug came to life, when lighting struck the top of a Burrawang Tree. The top fell off and became Grug, who then set off to find himself a home. He met some Aussie bush friends along the way and has had 34 adventures with his friends since then.
Grug will make appearances within the grounds of Morpeth Gallery, whilst author Ted Prior will be in residence to sign Grug books, which will be available for sale from Morpeth Gallery at $6 each.
To celebrate Grug’s 40th Birthday a special edition hard cover book & plush Grug toy set has been released for the occasion. Spend $20 or more on Grug products and receive a free party bag full of goodies.
Spend some time at the colouring in station, enjoy some birthday party food, admire some of the original artworks for the stories and watch Grug come to life on the TV screen.
When: Saturday 13th & Sunday 14th July, 2019 11am-1pm & 2pm-3pm
