The Cessnock Youth Centre and Outreach Service is helping young people stay connected during the COVID-19 Pandemic with CYCOS Online and the new service is such a success it’s here to stay!
Despite CYCOS closing its physical doors the doors online have remained wide open with the service transforming.
CYCOS Online utilises social media to offer the same level of service and support to young people in the Cessnock Local Government Area.
The service allows young people to meet safely online, participate in activities and engage with other young people and with youth workers.
Council’s Community and Cultural Engagement Manager, Natalie Drage said the success of CYCOS Online means it’s here to stay.
“When our doors reopen to the public we will continue to offer CYCOS Online. We have seen how it has benefited our young people and helped them through this difficult time. Keeping this service active in the long term means our young people stay connected to CYCOS even when they are unable to attend our events and activities at the Centre.”
Gabrielle Brooks who is a member of CYCOS Online said it has helped her cope with the current social restrictions.
“CYCOS has always been a big help to me before COVID-19. When we were told not to go anywhere I wasn’t sure how I would cope. I was invited to CYCOS Online, at first I wasn’t sure how it would work or help but I got involved and it was fun! CYCOS is always a few steps ahead of everything and no matter what they always find a way to help.”
