Hunter Belle Dairy Co. Wins Champion White Mould Cheese

Hunter Valley's Hunter Belle Dairy Co has claimed Champion White Mould Cheese at the 2025 Australian Grand Dairy Awards for their Briebelle.

The prestigious national awards, now in their 27th year, are hosted by Dairy Australia and the Royal Agricultural Societies. This year saw a record-breaking 471 entries competing across multiple categories, showcasing the creativity and quality of Australia's dairy industry.

World-renowned cheese expert and Chief Judge Russell Smith praised the calibre of entries, noting how Australian producers are successfully blending cultural influences with world-class methods.

"The quality of Australian dairy is world-class," Mr Smith said, highlighting the international flavours featured among this year's winners.

To qualify for the awards, products must be made in Australia using 100% Australian milk and have previously won gold at state qualifying competitions. Each entry was assessed through rigorous blind tastings by panels of Australian and international experts, who judged flavour, aroma, texture, body and appearance.

Dairy Australia Head of Marketing Glenys Zucco said the awards highlight the incredible diversity and craftsmanship of Australia's local dairy industry.

"With champions from every state, the awards truly reflect the rich diversity and talent across our country," Ms Zucco said.

Hunter Belle Dairy Co's Briebelle was among only 21 Champions crowned at this year's awards, underscoring the Hunter Valley's excellence in artisan cheese production and strengthening the region's growing reputation for quality dairy products.
