Nestled in Pokolbin's tranquil Mount View corner, Kelman Vineyard represents a unique fusion of boutique winemaking and residential living.
Established in 1996 by Stewart Ewen, this 100-acre estate honours William Kelman, a pioneering Australian vigneron who arrived in 1824. The vineyard's 23 acres, planted in the rich soil of 1997, produce award-winning wines, including Shiraz, Semillon, Chardonnay, and Tempranillo. Since their celebrated 2000 triple medal-winning Semillon, Kelman's limited-quantity wines have consistently impressed judges and reviewers alike. What distinguishes Kelman is its innovative community integration - vines meander between privately owned homes, creating an unparalleled Australian landscape. While residents own their properties, the community collectively owns the vineyard, fostering a shared sense of pride and involvement. The converted homestead cellar door, open Friday-Sunday, offers tastings alongside historical artifacts documenting wine pioneers' journeys, making Kelman both a premium winery and a living heritage site.
