Few names in the Hunter carry the weight of Ben Ean.

This beautifully restored Pokolbin estate has been a working vineyard since the 1800s and has long been synonymous with Lindeman's, one of Australia's most iconic wine labels. In 2017, two of the region's most respected winemaking families, the Petersons and the McGuigans, joined forces to purchase and revitalise the estate, restoring its historic charm while reestablishing it as a living, breathing symbol of Hunter Valley excellence.

With a philosophy of "from our wine families to yours," the cellar door showcases an impressive collection of labels, including Savannah Estate, Petersons Wines, Gunpowder, and The Still House Wines. It's also the only place in NSW where visitors can book a tasting of its current vintage Penfolds Grange and other premium Penfolds releases. A rare opportunity that draws wine lovers from far and wide.

At the heart of the estate's hospitality is The Still House - a former tin shed that once housed John McDonald's distillery in 1907, now transformed into one of the Hunter's most exclusive private dining and tasting spaces. Experiences range from tailored tastings from $50pp to the ultimate Penfolds degustation, pairing six courses with current and back-vintage releases, including Grange.

When hunger strikes, Baumé Restaurant delivers relaxed yet refined dining, with Mediterranean-inspired pizzas, pastas, and mains best enjoyed on the sunlit terrace.

For those after something lighter, the Ben Ean Patisserie and Deli sit side by side on the terrace and are open seven days a week. Freshbaked croissants, barista coffee, New York Deli Style sandwiches, and charcuterie boards make them a favourite for locals and visitors alike, whether you're fueling up before a day of tasting or simply lingering in the Hunter sunshine.

From a storied past to a vibrant present, Ben Ean is the Hunter Valley in a single destination.
