Latest After Dark Event Set to Light the Levee Red

Laservision laser show

Prepare to enter an altered world, where darkened shopfronts are transformed into vibrant and curious performance spaces, as The Levee plays host to After Dark: A Midwinter’s Night from 5.00pm on Saturday 25 June.

As the sun goes down, visitors can follow the sea of red, rumbling sounds and pulsating lights into The Levee, and experience an enchanting evening they won’t quickly forget.

Prepare to be amazed by laser shows, art installations, roving street acts, fire, music and more, with feats that defy gravity and bend the mind set to take centre stage.

Stunning laser shows, from Sydney based Laservision, who have developed shows as far and wide as Hong Kong, New Delhi and Riyadh, will create a unique and unforgettable sensory experience.

Maitland City Council Coordinator City Events and Activation Adam Franks says ‘After Dark: A Midwinter’s Night is a free, all ages event that will transform The Levee into the beating heart of Maitland.

'We’re excited to put on a show and take people on a journey.'

'You won’t want to miss a minute of world renowned taiko ensemble Taikoz, who will be performing their famous high energy and dynamic Japanese drumming routines throughout the evening, as stunning light displays illuminate the night sky.’

From pizza and pasta to mulled wine and craft beer, tuck into some hearty food and beverages that will warm you from within from one of the delicious food trucks and stalls that will line The Levee.

After the success of Maitland Taste last month, Mayor Philip Penfold says After Dark is an event the likes of which Maitland hasn't seen before, and will show locals and visitors alike a different side to The Levee.

‘By using The Levee’s historic shopfronts as a stage and igniting the sky with incredible light displays, After Dark will show how we can activate and reimagine Maitland in new and exciting ways.’

After Dark: A Midwinter’s Night will run from 5.00pm to 9.00pm on Saturday 25 June at The Levee Shared Zone.
