Reinvigorate Tennis in Maitland

Maitland City Council is calling for expressions of interest from suitable applicants to manage three of Council’s tennis centres and help make tennis more accessible to the community.

This process will see the three centres – Maitland Regional Tennis Centre, East Maitland Park Tennis, and Rutherford Tennis Courts – better align with Council’s vision of sporting venues that service the wider community and attract new participation at the sites.

Manager, Community & Recreation, Laurie D’Angelo-Edmonds says that applicants should demonstrate their ability to operate these valuable community assets in a sustainable manner while providing improved recreational opportunity to the wider community.

‘We want the successful applicants to be able to demonstrate four principles of accessibility, sustainability, community benefit, and accountability that underpin healthy, vibrant tennis venues.’

Group Manager Culture, Community and Recreation Judy Jaeger says the community should have the ability to make the best of the City’s sporting facilities.

‘This process will see suitable applicants assist Council in ensuring our community has better access to more sporting venues throughout our City.
‘We want to make sure that our facilities are great places to play tennis and implement better ways to enjoy them whether it be to have a casual game and improved access through improved booking systems, social competitions, and events and activations.’

We will assess applicants against set criteria outlined in the Expression of Interest to ensure the process is open and transparent and ensure a fair and equitable outcome.
