Rosé's to Remember

Peterson House

2015 Brut Rosé – RRP $29

Peterson House are a recognised specialist producer of sparkling wines in the Hunter Valley. Their aim is to produce a wine for all tastes and occasions.

TASTING This wine has a Salmon hue from the addition of a red wine liqueur. The aroma abounds with strawberry fruit characters and fresh citrus. The aroma is lively, fruity and has a hint of roasted nuts. This crisp, dry style Rosé has subtle berry sweetness up front but this blends with some citrus notes. The mid palate has a creaminess from the yeast autolysis which gives depth and complexity. The sweet note quickly subsides and is replaced by a fresh citrus acid zing which lingers in the mouth long after the last sip. Your palate is left refreshed and ready for another.

Greenway Wines 2019 Greenway 'Sabine' Rosé - RRP $28

So you look at this wine and wonder am I going to lurve it? It is in the cutest , sexiest skittle bottle ever seen. It is a mesmerising salmon pink. It is dry and it is zingy (the label says so... but is it true?) It really does smell of strawberries and Turkish Delight (the label IS true!)

TASTING It really really is super dry and tingly zesty zingy and ... although the label (whose veracity was never in doubt) says it is made from Merlot... you weren’t really really sure ... until ....the fabulous finish of Merlot-ish dusty blueberries hits you... and you know... it definitely is made from Merlot.

FOOD MATCH Such a sensational little wine can happily be consumed on its own, but it would also be spectacular with fresh prawns or salmon. Think too....Alfresco dining - spring salads, light chicken and pork dishes.
