The perfect first stop on any winery tour, it is the namesake of Savannah Peterson – a third-generation winemaker of the famous Hunter Valley Peterson family who embraces wine and food with the same intensity and passion as her forbears.

The Peterson family were one of the early contributors to the Hunter Valley wine renaissance. Ian and Shirley Peterson purchased an old dairy farm at Mount View in 1964 and, by 1971, had planted their first vines of Semillon. Today, their granddaughter Savannah works closely with Gary Reed, Chief Winemaker across Savannah Estate and Petersons Wines. They produce new and alternate varieties and styles that include Semillon, Chardonnay, Verdelho, Pinot Gris, Vermentino, Tempranillo, Rosé, Chambourcin, Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz, as well as a Sparkling White and Sparkling Malbec.

Savannah is uncompromising when it comes to consistency and quality, a trait that contributed to her nomination for Young Achiever of the Year at the 2023 Hunter Valley Legends Awards.

"Consistency is key at Savannah Estate; wine trends may come and go, but quality will forever be in fashion," said Savannah.
