Do you and your pooch use our off leash areas? We want to hear from you!

There’s nothing better than starting or finishing your day with a trip to an off leash area with your furry friend to blow off some steam and enjoy fresh air. Cessnock City Council understands how important these open spaces are to residents and to their canine friends, and is putting together a plan for the future of these spaces.

Residents are encouraged to undertake a short survey that will inform a strategy Council is developing for off leash dog exercise areas. Cessnock City Mayor, Councillor Bob Pynsent encouraged residents who use one of the six off leash areas in the Cessnock Local Government Area to do the quick survey and assist Council in identifying opportunities for improvement.

“We want our residents and their pets to be able to play, exercise and socialise in a safe and accessible way. Whether it’s bins, seating or shade we want to hear about improvements that could make your trip to the dog park even more enjoyable.”

Once a strategy is developed residents will have another opportunity to provide feedback during the public exhibition period.

To find out where our local off leash areas are located visit our website or to participate in the survey visit our Have your say page. The survey closes on Sunday 27 September 2020.
