There's something special about pulling on a piece of clothing that tells a complete story - from paddock to product - and that's exactly what you'll find at Australian Alpaca Barn.

This beloved family-owned business has been welcoming visitors to the Hunter Valley for almost 30 years, and the passion behind every piece is as evident today as it was when owners Marion and Michael Jack first started out.

The Jacks raise their own alpaca herd at Jacamar Alpacas, their farm in Torryburn. What began with just ten alpacas back in 1997 has since grown into a flourishing herd of almost 100, producing the soft, fine fibre that lies at the heart of everything Australian Alpaca Barn creates. Originally established to champion locally grown alpaca products, the range has since expanded to include a carefully curated global selection sourced from premium producers in Australia, New Zealand, and Peru - each chosen for quality and sustainability.

And the appeal of alpaca wool? It really does speak for itself. Exceptionally soft against the skin, warm yet lightweight, naturally hypoallergenic, moisture-wicking, and eco-friendly — it's a fibre that ticks every box. Visitors to the boutique often find themselves genuinely surprised by how different it feels from conventional wool. Once you've experienced it, it's hard to go back.

In the Hunter Valley, you'll find Australian Alpaca Barn at two gorgeous locations - Hunter Valley Gardens and Peppers Creek Village. Each boutique is open seven days a week and stocks a beautiful range of coats, throws, sweaters, scarves, socks, and homewares, all wrapped in that signature alpaca softness. Whether you're treating yourself or searching for a truly special gift to take home, you'll find something worth lingering over.

With boutiques also in Leura in the Blue Mountains and Berrima in the Southern Highlands, along with an online store, Australian Alpaca Barn makes natural luxury accessible wherever you are. But there's nothing quite like visiting in person - seeing the story behind the fibre makes every purchase feel that little bit more meaningful.
