LUCY'S RUN WINES

It might be one of the smaller vineyards in Hunter wine country, but Lucy’s Run certainly packs a punch, with a trio of well-known winemakers on board, and a range of award-winning wines.

Lucy’s Run is a boutique 9 acre vineyard in Lovedale, and has been producing award-winning single vineyard wines since 2002. Featuring Shiraz (two trophies, count ‘em!), Merlot and Verdelho (including the luscious Sweet Sophie), Lucy’s Run wines are crafted by a trio of top Hunter winemakers: Mike De Iuliis, David Hook and Nick Paterson.

Drop in (bookings are advised) to the cellar shed (yes, shed!) to meet Brad and Heather, and sample a range of their wines, olive oil and hand-made spices. Lucy’s Run is also home to Woof Woof wines, created to support PetRescue and a number of other Aussie animal rescue groups.

And who were “Lucy” and “Sophie”? Both were the original Lucy’s Run wine dogs, and Brad and Heather decided to keep on the tradition. “Lucy” had the run of the property (see how that works!), and “Sophie” … well she’s the name behind the much-loved “Sweet Sophie” dessert-style Verdelho.

When you’re next in Lovedale, head over to Lucy’s Run – they’re open Friday, Saturday, Sunday (and most public holidays) 10am-5pm. Brad and Heather will share a warm welcome and a few stories with you over a glass or three!
